Our Story

Picture
BridgeNorth is a registered charitable organization, started in 2014 with the goal of seeing an end to sexual exploitation in Canada.  Casandra Diamond, our founder and director, herself a survivor of the Canadian sex industry forged the way to make BridgeNorth survivor founded and survivor lead.

BridgeNorth exists because slavery still exists right here in Canada. In fact, Canada has become a source, transit, and destination country for human trafficking, primarily in the sex industry.

Modern-day sex trafficking affects girls and women from all economic backgrounds. Homelessness and poverty are certainly risk factors, but individuals from safe homes and neighbourhoods can also be targeted. They are lured in from schoolyards, shopping malls, and social media channels, then forced into prostitution. Predators pose as friends and boyfriends, promising a glamourous life of love and wealth. In reality, their victims live a horrific nightmare from which it is very difficult to escape.

The victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation are among our society's most vulnerable individuals.  It would be very difficult to find a group who is more oppressed than those who are being sexually exploited in Canada. BridgeNorth exists to help them escape a life of slavery and build a new life of their choosing.
